Description | The Master of Arts in Theological Studies is an academic program whose aim is to train a Christian worker or lay person who is either engaged in or desires to be engaged in theological education, reflection and writing. Those who complete the program will be able to: 1. exegete the Bible according to sound hermeneutical principles, aided by the insights of Christian tradition, and in accordance with the highest standards of academic scholarship. 2. do local theology by applying one’s own exegesis of the Bible to one’s own historical context in such a way that holistic transformation is effected within one’s own social, political, and cultural spheres of influence. 3. consistently model the disciplined and practical exercise of an internally formed biblical holiness. 4. shepherd the flock of God through the effective use of God-given spiritual gifts and seminary-honed ministry skills. This may be taken as a part-time or full-time student |

Methods of instruction | ATS believes in a holistic training for each student in the development of their skills, character and spiritual qualities. There are lectures (with teacher-student, student-student interactions), book studies, actual translations and recitation, assigned readings, mentoring, internship, and team projects. Through care groups and recreational activities among the ATS community, the seminary aims to help in developing unity and social skills among the students. |
