Description Introduction The Jubilee Centre is a Christian think tank that offers a biblical perspective on economic, political and social issues. We are convinced the Bible describes a coherent vision for society that has enduring relevance and application in the twenty-first century. At the heart of this social vision is a concern for right relationships. We seek to generate ideas, equip leaders and build communities that offer positive responses to the challenges faced by individuals, organisations and policy makers today. The Jubilee Centre is seeking to equip a new generation of Christian leaders through a Biblical Foundations for Public Leadership training course. This is a blended course combining personal online study with monthly group discussions, and ends with a Summer School in Cambridge. The course is built around our popular Cambridge Papers, and explores how biblical law is foundational for understanding God’s intentions for societies that value relationships and promote social justice. Course structure The programme is made up of seven modules, each with four units which are normally completed over a period of five weeks. The blended approach combines personal study with periodic group discussions and reflective essays. After all the modules have been completed, participants gather for a Summer School in Cambridge, where they will create and plan a project of their own choosing to apply what they have been learning. A self-study version of the course is also available, which omits the group discussions and reflective essays. This is for people who want to study at their own pace, either faster or slower than the structured programme. Provided they have also completed all the modules, they can also apply to attend the Summer School. Once participants have completed the course and Summer School, they can join the Jubilee Learning Community for the following year, as they develop their practical projects. Members of the Learning Community will have the opportunity to meet once a term, and then return to the next Summer School. Detailed Programme Modules begin with an introductory group discussion on Skype for one hour, led by the course director. Then participants will work through the four units in that module. Each unit generally consists of two sort videos, two articles of around 1,000 words each, and then two Cambridge Papers or similar essays of approx. 4,000 words each. It is expected that around 2 hours of study will be required for each unit. At the end of four weeks, there will another group discussion to draw the threads together, after which participants will write a 1500 – 2000 word reflective essay. To complete a module successfully, participants must also post comments on the main papers and interact online with others.
