The curriculum will challenge you academically, but more importantly, it will stretch you spiritually. At Arizona Christian, we prepare you to work in the mental health field as a professional with utmost Christian character. In the Family Studies Major, we build on the fact that families are God’s idea and He had specific purposes in mind for families to accomplish. You will discover these basic purposes and learn about how families function most effectively. In addition, you will learn about the effects of unhealthy family functioning on the individuals involved and on society; and you will learn how you can make a difference. 1. Understand the historical development of the behavioral studies fields and its importance to the helping professions. 2. Learn the various theories regarding influences on personality and behavior, and evaluate according to a biblical understanding of humankind. 3. Identify characteristics of normal and abnormal human behavior, including etiology, assessment, and treatment. 4.
