Description A survey of church development from Martin Luther's first step toward Reformation in 1517, to the complex diversified religious institution of the late 20th Century. Early lectures will introduce the student to the five major phases of the Reformation--Lutheran, Reformed, Radical, Anglican and Catholic--along with each momvement's contribution to the shaping of the modern church. The latter part of the course will focus on the development of the modern church since 1648. Prerequisite: HIS 6220 or equivalent.
