Description In this course two streams of music history are explored. The first half of the course will chart the development of western art music from the Middle Ages through the 20th Century. Attention will be given to style, the social and historical context of music of representative composers of the day. The last half of the course will trace the development of gospel music and the gospel music industry from the reforms of Martin Luther to the Contemporary Christian Music of today.
